Calumet Welding Center was built in 2009 onsite with our parent company Calumet Testing Services (CTS).  As the local welding inspection and certification facility, CTS was able to anticipate an upcoming demand for competitive local welders able to enter the job market quickly.

Our students have an unprecedented advantage of working alongside professional instructors,  industry experts and seasoned welders.  By integrating ourselves into a variety of parts on the welding industry, we keep our staff and students up-to-date with important information on local projects, jobs, and needs in a fast changing market.

Our Training Difference

Our secret to Success is MORE WELD TIME!  The only way to master welding is through practice. We’ve worked to eliminated distractions,  so our students are able to utilize 2x-3x more practice time.

  • 80% Weld Practice Time| 20% Classroom Training.
  • One Student Per Booth.
  • Student to teacher ratio (1:9).
  • Weld Demonstrations.
  • Precut practice pieces.
  • High quality UAS ventilation system to remove welding fumes.

We also prioritize employable Soft skills Employers express that punctuality and attendance, following directions, and working under pressure are just as important as welding skills.

Jaime was chosen the oversee Calumet Welding Center training start-up in 2009 because of an impressive student certification pass rate.  Awarded Welding instructor of the Year by Practical Welding Today magazine.

Job Placement Assistance

91%-92% successful placement rates into the field.

Student have a resume created for them.  Resumes are submitted to our local contacts until the student receives a successful job offer.

CWC works with over 200 local job connections within 20 / 40 minutes of our location.

We host a PowerPoint presentation to prepare our students for their job search, applications, interviews, weld tests, job expectations, and updating their resume.

On average, students typically gain employment within 2 -4 weeks of completing their training program.

Rental Space

Weld Booths

CWC offers booth practice space for an hourly rate so local welders can keep their skill sets up-to-date. 

  • 2 hr minimum. 
  • Bring your own  Personal Protective Gear (PPE).
  • Carbon steel scrap materials are included in the rental price.

Classroom Space

Classroom space is available for your training and meeting needs.  Employers that are expecting a large group are able to utilize our classroom space for orientation, policy review, ect.  Businesses are welcome to host their own training programs at our convenient location. Contact us.
